The Wolves begins with a lone wolf calling the rest of the pack. Slowly we see the wolves emerge from their lairs, preparing for the hunt. Different members of the pack have different roles - some fight, while others plan and lead the way. The Wolves is an amalgamation of several motifs from the Lone Wolf Series, a collection of pieces for solo instruments, each depicting a story of the lone wolf. Here the lone wolf finally returns to its pack, to join the hunt once again. There is a mix of bittersweet nostalgia, anger and frustration and fear, as the lone wolf slowly assimilates itself back to society. However, does it really assimilate, or is it a wolf in sheep's clothing (pun intended)?
