In a continuation of the Lone Wolf's Story, the Lone Wolf now realises that without his friends he is truly alone. The Viola describes these feelings of loneliness, frantic fear and torment by dissonant chords and poignant melodic lines. However, there is a small beam of hope, seen in a melodic motive based on an F minor 7th chord - that appears again and again - the lone wolf can make it through these hard times.
